I began dancing at the age of 3. My first class was ballet and I was dressed as a red bird for my recital. One of my wings broke backstage which garnered a quick fix by one of the instructors. My hat then fell off on stage during a port de bra. My mom and I quickly realized my instructor had been right about needing to secure our headpiece with bobby pins. Each year thereafter I added more dances. Jazz, tap, pointe, musical theater, and eventually a solo. I danced into my second year of college at which time I was a bit lost and still trying to figure out life. So, I moved away, got married, started having kids and eventually went back to school to become an RN.

Fast forward 15 years . . . I had moved back to Kettering and both of my daughters were dancing at my old studio. I had completed my master's degree and was working full time as a Nurse Practitioner. I was also teaching dance on the side at my old studio. In 2018, my dance teacher and mentor, Wendy Streib, decided to retire. She offered for me to take over after her retirement. At first I was quite unsure, but then I recalled how owning a dance studio had been my dream as a child. I remembered the "recital" I performed for my parents in our living room when I was 10 years old. I had choreographed 15 dances with my friend and my dogs. I had even created a program for the performance. So, I decided to take a chance and become a studio owner. Now we are about to enter our 7th year and I am so glad I made that decision!
